I never thought I'd say this- but this is a fresh, funny and absorbing spin on the done-to-death (no pun intended)theme of vampires. There are no brooding characters (other than the usual teen angst, which is expressed in phrases straight out of the 90s), no bizarre love triangles, and the "love" story is not the main theme of the book. Girl power - hold the angst (well, most of it anyways). This was a delightful read with a catchy premise. The author kept the mood light even when the subject at hand was, at times, serious. Campy fun without any of the gothic melodrama of Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed every page of the Twilight series. But I laughed so much more with Sucks...I'll be looking for more from Ms. Pauley.
