Representaion Supposing Books Blood and Betrayal (The Emperor's Edge #5)

The last thing Maldynado Montichelu—former aristocrat and current ladies' man—ever wanted was to be left in charge. After all, the team just blew up a train, crashed a dirigible, and kidnapped the emperor. It's kind of an important time.

But, with Amaranthe captured by the nefarious Forge coalition, and Sicarius off to find her, the team is lacking in leaders. Also, Sicarius has made it clear that Maldynado’s life may be forfeit should anything happen to the emperor while he’s gone.

To make matters worse, Forge’s cutthroats are after Sespian, and the young emperor believes Maldynado's loyalties are suspect. As if it’s his fault that his older brother is working with the coalition to usurp the throne. If Maldynado can’t figure out how to earn the emperor’s trust quickly, Sespian will go off to confront their powerful enemies on his own.

Meanwhile, Amaranthe must find a way to escape from the coalition’s newest ally, Master Interrogator Pike, a man who plans to pull all of the secrets from her head, one way or another…

Blood and Betrayal is the fifth novel in The Emperor’s Edge series.

Evaluate Of Books Blood and Betrayal (The Emperor's Edge #5)
This book took a darker turn. After the cliffhanger ending of book 4 this was pretty much non stop. It left me exhausted. Unfortunately due to the peril Amaranthe was in I was a little distracted for Maldynado's sections. I needed her to be in a better place before I could fully pay attention to the other storyline. As such I was distracted and this book left me exhausted. It would have benefited from a little more of a break in the action than we got. Also, this book gives a little background

I have so many feelings about this series. I have many, many feelings for the characters. The characters continue to be amazing. But I have to admit to being irked by a couple of things in this book. First, I'm getting a little tired of one of the main characters being kidnapped and kept captive as a main plot. Second, there was a lot of torture in this book, which, well, I just found really unpleasant. It felt like there didn't need to be so much time spent on it, especially as it seemed not to

3.5* rounded to 4* for a strong ending.Slightly darker and more dramatic compared to other books in the series, but still action packed and with humour. This series became my comfort read.

This was my favorite one so far. The relationship between Sicarius and Amaranthe progressed even further (YES!), and we got some insight into Mal's background. Mal is my third favorite character (after Amaranthe and Sicarius of course), and I really felt for him throughout this entire book. And I adore the fact that he thinks of Amaranthe as his little sister, and that he is the first to mention that he considers the other men in the group as his brothers.

Blood and Betrayal by Lindsay BurokerMy rating: 5 of 5 starsI just finished Blood and Betrayal (The Emperor's Edge Book 5) and other than the fact I have to wait until next year to move the story along it was amazing as expected. The whole Emperor's Edge series borders on the edge of fantastic, the characters are fleshed out and the stories are always full of things that make you think you know what is going to happen .... until something you never thought of happens. I could write paragraphs

The fifth installment of The Emperor's Edge series, follows Maldynado's POV and it's about time too. We finally get an insight into the clown of the group who, whilst making the others laugh, determinedly convinces the other characters and the readers that he cares for nothing much but a "good" time with a pretty lady. We find that Maldynado has fears and insecurities, a desire to build his own identity and a strong need to divorce himself from his family's reputation. A fantastic installment
