At seventeen, Copper is newly married to Dr. Simon Corbett and living so very far away from her beloved mountain home. She’s a fish out of water, but thankful her stepmother had tried to train her as a lady. But her barefoot, possum cooking ways were an embarrassment to her new sister-in-law, Alice. Maintaining her true self while trying to be the acceptable wife of a respected doctor in this big city was a trial and an adventure. As upbeat as Copper is, she makes the best of it by helping people often, and her husband in the office, and dodging stinging barbs from Alice. Eventually she happens upon sad but promising ways to help Alice learn to love her.
In this book we fall in love with many endearing characters Copper picks up along the way. We find out why the next set is called the Copper Brown series.
Clean, sweet with faith elements that fit easily into the pages as a number of characters take their faith seriously, especially Copper, who is an inspiration to many.

I love this series. Jan has a way with words.

while I foudn the "story" spotty... and disjointed at times... I'll admit my absolute favorite moment was at the very very end of the book, where my confused heart (due to the first book, and my response to it) swelled... and found a hope I'd longed for. Can't wait for the third installment!

Willow Springs starts immediately where Troublesome Creek leaves off. Knowing of Copper's innocence, her fresh realness,I could hardly imagine how she could live, let alone thrive in the city. I was fascinated to find out what this story would be like. I thought it was wonderful. A LOT of things happen to and around Copper. I think another author might have made them seem far-fetched or fanciful, but again, this story just flowed. It was very real, and I loved and cared about the characters. I
This is the second book in the series. In this book, Copper has married her young city doctor, and is trying to make the transition to living in the city, and being a young married woman with means. She can't go barefoot, or help with the laundry, or cook or clean or do any of the other things she was used to doing up on her mountain to maintain daily life. How hard it must have been for her to make the change! She loves her husband Simon, so she tried hard to go along. Her sister-in-law Alice
