The Unspoken
Five years ago six children who lived with their families in Jacob Crawley's Divine Path religious cult escaped by burning the compound to the ground. They are reunited at the funeral of Jacob's son, Harold. Harold died of drowning -- his worst fear -- even though his body was found miles from any water. And it seems that each of the teens is marked for murder -- as Crawley had predicted years earlier. Can any of these teens save themselves?
Horror author Thomas Fahy now brings his unsettling talent to teen fiction with The Unspoken.
The Unspoken is about six teens who were the only survivors of a religious cult, that was destroyed by a fire. A prediction was made that each teen would die by their worst fear. Five years later, one of the teens drown and slowly each teen starts dying. The only way to stop this is to find the root of the curse. Each teen goes through a series of obstacles that they have never encountered and never believed.
This book was about a boy, jakob, who dies at sea and after his friends find out, they start reminsincing about him and remembered him saying before he died he ever died, they would die after him. The friends started freaking out, but they didnt know whether or not to believe this. Then all of a sudden one by one each friend starts dieing. The rest if the book is about the death of the rest of the kids and the mystery behind it.
Giving this a star rating, itd be at about 2 stars. I enjoyed the book at the beginning but I got to about 40 pages in and the whole story started to confuse me. It was an interesting book, but I didnt fully understand it from the beginning anyways. I didnt really like anything in the book being confused. I would recommend this book to people who can figure through challenging books and that like horror fiction.

I really liked this story. It was a super quick read, but I found the storyline gripping. It kept me wanting to read more which is a good thing in a book. A good indicator for me of whether or not I truly liked a book is whether or not I'd like to read more by the same author. In this case, I would. Though I should've guessed the twist from miles away, I didn't. It left me gasping and in utter shock. Great book!
Personally, I thought the book wasn't the best. The author didn't describe the characters in the book which made it hard to connect with them. The book was about a religious cult and that I don't like to read about religious things. Also, since the book was short, it was very predictable. I was able to predict things from the moment I read it and you shouldn't be able to do that with a book. You should be surprised by the events that take place in a book, not being able to foresee it.

Ok so I picked this book up because it looked like a cross between Stephen King and crazy science fiction. The whole idea of each person dying off from their greatest fear also sounded good. However, the killings were basically a background story and weren't focused on at all. It was also very confusing and really bizarre. Another thing that was weird was the whole religious thing-it didn't even make any sense-and was just kinda dumb. The author made it sound like the whole plot of the book wasThe Unspoken is about six teens who were the only survivors of a religious cult, that was destroyed by a fire.
