Description Conducive To Books Egipcjanin Sinuhe, tom 2 (Sinuhe egyptiläinen #2)
A good historic novel about the time of Akhenaton, in the Egyptian New Empire. Although the author tried togive a good historical description of the time, Egyptology has moved too fast for him since 1945,
so the novel contains several out-dated elements:
1. The Habiru are equated with the Hebrew. This is no longer asserted by historians.
2. The long chronology is used for the Hebrews to leave Egypt. Not many experts think now that Exodus
could have taken place in the time of Amenhotep III or before, as the book suggests.
3. Horemheb is assumed to have been the chief of the army in the time of Akhenaton. This is now considered doubtful.
Other unhistoric details (although they were known at the time and Waltari probably changed them as
"requirements by the plot" are:
4. Horemheb was not the father of the first pharaoh of the XIX dynasty, as the book states.
5. The offer of marriage to one of Shuppiluliuma's sons was done by Ankhesenamun, daughter of Akhenaton
and widow of Tutankhamun, not by Bakenamon, supposed sister of Akhenaton in the book.
I had a problem with the novel: I could not empathize with the main character (Sinuhe) after reading about his hideous treatment of his adoptive parents. His view of life is also too negative and nihilistic for me. Because of this, I cannot give the book more than 3 stars.

Todo libro tiene su momento, si se lee de quince años es un libro de cinco estrellas, si se lee de sesenta es me imagino (no he llegado allá) que puede ser de dos estrellas. por ahora lo tengo como un gran recuerdo
