Appraise Containing Books A Thousand Shall Fall (Shiloh Legacy #2)

Even though the first book in this series wasn't my favorite, I cared enough about the characters (and like the time period) to continue reading. This book was better. It didn't follow as many characters and so wasn't as confusing as the first. I appreciated the theme of trust the author built around Psalm 91, one of my favorites, and most timely right now. I plan to read the final book.



"A Thousand Shall Fall" is a historical novel set in September and October of 1929 and leads up to the stock market crash. This novel is the second in the series, but you don't need to have read "In My Father's House" to understand this one (though it will make it more enjoyable). Well, let me start by saying that this book probably deserves more like 3.5 stars,but I'm just not feeling all that generous today. It took me longer to read than I usually take because I was a little bored at first and put it down to read some other more entertaining books. This was a very good story, a little challenging moving from connected stories that eventually fit together. I enjoy reading about different decades and how life was. Moving through issues of the South, Stock Market plunges on Wall Street, and how crime was acted out on the wharf, it reminds us of the fallen world we live in. That's why we can admire those that stand for the right in the middle of all these conflicts. A young boy who never knew his father and looses his mother has to go through

First thing; these books got me right here. *pounds fist over heart* It was obvious to me before I ever even clapped eyes on these books that the Thoene's were amazing and all, but I mean...after reading these I was basically a doting, obsessed fan.
