Rendition In Favor Of Books Because She Can

In a New York minute, Claire Truman lands both a plum position at a top publishing house and the man she's wanted for ten years...then reality intervenes. Her new boss is Vivian Grant, a notoriously ruthless tyrant known for her tirades, traumatized assistants, and tabloid-inspired bestsellers. Soon Claire's job is stealing more and more of her time and her relationship with her fiance begins to feel the strain. It doesn't help that she's working late nights with a brilliant-and handsome-first-time author. As Vivian's outrageous demands continue to escalate, Claire wonders if she likes where the fast track is taking her-and worries about what she might turn into...

Criticism Based On Books Because She Can
It's a variation The Devil Wears Prada in a book setting. It was enjoyable, very much a beach read. The audio book added music for different setting changes.

Loved this fun book but I think the only disappointment I had with the book was at the end. I really wanted more of a declaration from Luke. It just wasn't as grand of an finale as I wanted.

More like 2 and a half stars. Like almost every other review that I have read, this is a rip of The Nanny Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada. So there really isn't anything new about this book. You get the super mean/evil boss who is horrible to the young, naive employee. And because she is in over her head professionally, she doesn't have time to figure out her personal life.By the time the prologue ended, which was 12 pages long, I knew exactly how this book was going to end. That always

Because She Can, is a quick, fun read, but lacks in making an impression. In a typical chick-lit, Clark has developed a storyline that matches every other story where you have a girl (Claire) who has moved to the big Apple to pursue her career, has the perfect boyfriend, a crazy tyrannical boss who does everything she can to make their employees cry, but overall, Claire is still not happy with her life. While there are some humorous moments and characterization of the villain boss, Vivian, the

Claire Truman loves her job as an editorial assistant, mostly because her revered mentor has taught her everything she knows about publishing. When he announces his retirement, she is ecstatic when her old secret crush from college, Randall Cox, arranges an interview with Vivian Grant, one of the best known female publishers in the business. Claire soon learns that she is unprepared for the neverending hours, unreasonable demands, and the constant stream of colleagues who cave and quit.

if you want a quick, easy, light book this is it..The title i think is a bit of a contradiction as the main character,Claire, is working for a tyrant. Therefore, Claire can not do anything!!! Her boss reminds me of the boss in The Devil wears Prada, however the boss in this book is in the book publishing buisness.. So, Claire has it tough at work.when will her boss explode??? when will she have a tantrum??? will Claire be in the line of fire????.however.on a happy pleasant note..her love life

I don't know about this book. It was recommended by Vogue, so... The main plot idea is basically stolen from The Devil Wears Prada - super evil boss who makes everyone's life a living hell and expects people to do things that are impossible. Except this book takes place in the book publishing industry. I actually didn't think Vivian Grant (the devil in Because She Can) was as awful as Miranda Priestly. I mean, okay, it sucks to be loaded up with tons of work and very tight deadlines, but at
